Reconciliation

Reconciliation locations in the church offer the opportunity for this healing sacrament in the traditional manner or face-to-face. Priests are available on Saturdays, normally from 3:30-4:30 P.M.

Rite of Reconciliation for Individuals

Greeting from the Priest Sign of the Cross Scripture Passage Confession of Sin

Here, honestly confess the sins that have been part of your life. All serious matter should be included, as well as less serious things that are troublesome in your life with the Lord.

Advice and Spiritual Counseling Penance

The prayer or good work that you will be asked to take on is a sign of your sincere repentance.

Prayer of Sorrow or Contrition Absolution

The Priest places his hands on your head (or extends his right hand toward you) and prays these words of forgiveness: "God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

Prayer of Praise, such as:

Priest: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. Response: His mercy endures forever.

Dismissal, such as:

The Lord has freed you from your sins. Go in peace.
