Pater Noster-Prayer Guide

A prayer guide, 15 minutes.

Part I - We speak to God

Use your own language, speak as if you were talking to a friend, be honest God knows anyway. Don't break up the time. Authentic prayer is always directed away from self, towards God.

P - PresenceAn act of faith in the presence of God within you.
A - AdorationNever forget the One who is close to us, is the All-Holy and Transcendent, Ever Present God
T - ThanksgivingFor what God has done and is doing right now, for the Sacraments, for His Son Jesus, the church, our family, job, friends, etc.
E - Examination (Past)How have we attempted to love God in our relationships with others, making an honest and serious appraisal of our faults and failings.
R - Repentance (Past)Not even God can help us if we don't see how much we need His help and how weak we really are without Him.

Part II - God speaks to us

Listening to God - Read a short passage of scripture, picture the scene, who says what, why do they say what they say, what is the response of the listeners.

From this listening to God, how does it apply right now, today, this moment. How can it be applied in my life? ''' Part III - We speak to God'''

N - NeedsTime to pray for our family and friends, but particularly for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are most in need of the help we can give through our prayerful concern.
O - OthersWhat does the world need, the church need, our country, community, neighbors, friends.
S - SelfWhat are my needs for just today, right now. What do I need to plan for tomorrow.
T - ThanksgivingThank God for this time, for all the personal graces and blessings He has given us.
E - Examination (Now)Look to the future, now is the time to plan for the day ahead with God. Think and pray over the various decisions, problems which you face today.
R - Resolution (Now)Now is the time to take the necessary precautions against falling into various "faults" in the forthcoming day, ask God's help.
