During Lent we as a parish, as family, as individuals participate in the Catholic Relief Services program of praying, fasting, learning, and giving.
Just as we celebrate the Eucharist at the Lord's table on Sundays, participation in Operation Rice Bowl is a way to "break bread" together with family, friends, and loved ones. Through this Lenten journey of faith and justice, Operation Rice Bowl invites you to pray together, fast through making sacrifices, learn about the members of our family in the developing world, and give concrete assistance to those most in need. Participating in Operation Rice Bowl strengthens our solidarity with all members of our human family and calls us to put our faith into action.
75% of contributions to Operation Rice Boul fund programs which positively effect tens of thousands of lives around the world through CRS development programs. 25% of contributions support hunger and poverty allevation programs here in the Diocese of Rocheter. Program materials may be picked up at the entrances to the church during Lent.
The progam formally begins the Sunday before Ash Wednesday and ends on Palm Sunday.
