Parishioners from St Thomas the Apostle Parish are supporting the pastoral ministry effort at Rochester General Hospital. Jeanne Specht, Ray Klem, Anton Siegl, Doris Oliver, Margaret Myers, and John Mendel, and others spend Sunday mornings visiting the sick and taking Holy Communion to Catholic patients. Their ministry includes such areas of the hospital as cardiology, neonatal, postoperative care, psychiatry, intensive care, rehabilitation, respiratory therapy, and orthopedics.
In times of acute need, hospital patients look for the opportunity to receive the Eucharist and regain a sense of peace and fulfillment.
If anyone feels they have a calling to hospital ministry and would like to minister to the sick, you can call John Mendel. This corporal work of mercy is truly rewarding and offers needed spiritual service to those in time of need.
